Sketches, models and original plaster casts by the sculptor Henri Chapu (1833-1891), winner of the Prix de Rome in 1855.
He took part in the decoration of numerous monuments (the Opéra, sculptures in the grounds of the Château de Chantilly, etc.) and was a good portrait painter (Alexandre Dumas). Henri Chapu played an important role in 19th century sculpture.
