For the first time, the Musée de la gendarmerie nationale is presenting its heritage to the general public. With a rich and varied collection, it takes visitors on a journey through the history of the institution (missions, daily life, resources, etc.).
In Melun, the museum is housed in a completely renovated former barracks building and opened its doors on 10 October 2015.
With its modern architecture, it features a huge flaming grenade over 5 metres high forming the entrance to this Museum of France.
Organised around the largest suspended display case in Europe, a real technical feat, the permanent exhibition highlights the history of the gendarmerie, through the history of France. Multimedia and sound effects take you to the heart of a unique interactive experience, accessible to all.
