⚠️ The Melun Val de Seine Tourist Office has moved!
Due to safety work on the Espace Saint-Jean building, the Office is now located at 14 rue Paul Doumer in the Rayon coworking space in Melun! The team is on hand to welcome you on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 6pm, and can be contacted by email at contact@otmvs.com and by phone on 01 64 52 64 52!
The tourist office promotes the 20 communes of the Melun Val de Seine conurbation as tourist attractions. The area boasts 3 outstanding heritage sites (Melun, Maincy, Seine-Port), 3 French museums (Musée de la Gendarmerie nationale, Musée d'art et d'histoire, Musée aéronautique et spatial Safran) and 30 historic monuments. The area is famous for the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, the first private site in France to be listed as a historic monument, and for the rich history of the royal town of Melun.
The Melun Val de Seine conurbation straddles the historic Brie and Gâtinais regions, a strategic position accentuated by the Seine, which flows through the area from east to west. The Seine is the lifeblood of the region, and the region's tourist office is constantly developing its river-based activities.
What are our missions?
- To welcome, inform and promote our region. We provide information for all types of visitor, whether local residents, day-trippers or tourists.
- Introduce visitors to local craftspeople and products in our shop. We offer visitors a selection of products and souvenirs ranging from local produce to memorabilia.
- Organise themed guided tours and events to suit all tastes: explore the city of Melun by night, discover the art of brewing beer or enjoy a panoramic view from the top of the Saint-Aspais bell tower.
- Offering a ticketing service for visits to the region's must-see attractions: the incredible Château de Vaux le Vicomte, the amazing Lumigny zoo, and a number of events throughout the year.
- Responding to demand from groups by putting together a programme to discover Melun, the Val d'Ancœur and the surrounding area as a whole. The programme includes historical tours of the town, visits to tourist sites and tastings.
- Take part in external events to promote the destination to the public and represent Melun Val de Seine at trade fairs.
What services are available at the Tourist Office?
The Tourist Office is constantly developing its activities and services. We currently offer electrically-assisted bicycle hire electrically-assisted bicycle hire for a day (€25) or half-day (€12.50). This service is the fruit of our partnership with the Melun Val de Seine conurbation and its Mélivélo hire service. We provide the equipment you need free of charge. A relay point service with market leader Mondial Relay is available at the concierge desk. During reception opening hours, you can drop off or collect your Mondial Relay (and partner) parcels. If you are unable to print out your Mondial Relay shipping label, we can print it out on the spot using a QR code to be presented. Shipping costs must be paid in advance of your visit via the Mondial Relay website: https://www.mondialrelay.fr/ .
The tourist office has a shop stocked entirely with local products, souvenirs of our major sites and related products! All year round, we offer tastings, commercial events and we can put together 100% local gourmet baskets on request. You'll find a range of local products in the shop, including local honeys, homemade pastes and caramels, local jams, beers from the Melun region and many other products... The Tourist Office supports its local producers and suppliers in developing their business. An agreement with the Parc Naturel Régional du Gatinais Français has been signed in the shop. A true land of crafts and rich know-how. Souvenirs from our major sites are also on sale, in partnership with the Gendarmerie Museum, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte and the Safran aeronautics and space museum, as well as books, postcards, merchandise, IGN maps and board games. The shop is ideal for those who want to find out more about the history of the region, take home a souvenir of their stay or have some fun learning!
